Professional
secrecy:
If you want to you can stay anonymous: just telling your first
name is enough. Everything said will be kept between you and us.
Social workers have professional secrecy, which means that we will
never take any steps without consulting you first. If necessary we
will contact the 'Tolkentelefoon'; the interpreters'telephone
service, which is staffed by interpreters who translate the
conversation via the phone. We can also bring in an interpreter if
you have an appointment with us. This won't cost you anything.
An example:
You started with prostitution to pay off a debt. But no
improvement is yet in sight, because it has put you to extra
expenses, e.g. for clothes, rent and travelling. Because of your
work and your leading a double life, problems have piled up. The
PMW may mediate for you for a plan to pay off your debts. This way
you can organise you affairs, together with us.
Another example:
Male prostitution is under a double taboo: you are a prostitute
plus you have homosexual contacts. You may feel very lonely as a
consequence. We are always willing to lend an ear when you want to
talk about this. And if you want to gain more insight into your
own life, we would be happy to support you. And if you do want to
stop with the work it may be difficult to start a new life. We can
help you apply for social benefit, find a place to live, another
job or training, through the employment agency ('Arbeidsbureau').
As this involves working together with public institutions, a
